Geckotech Solutions successfully won a competitive public tender being assigned the role of Principal Contractor responsible for all work scope associated with the servicing and repair of the large glazed curtain walling overlooking the swimming pool hall. All aspects of planning and preparation with strong emphases placed on adherence to CDM regulations throughout. Geckotech successfully project managed these works bringing the programme in on time and on budget.
Scope of work: Industrial rope access was used as primary means of access throughout the project.
• Installation of debris containment system to internal elevation of curtain wall above swimming pool. The containment system was capable of containing small particles right up to arresting the fall of 100kg glazing units.
• The installation of a rope access system to all external elements.
• The inspection and survey of the entire glazed curtain walling identifying defective glazing units and associated fixtures and fixings.
• Application of herbicide (weed killing and vegetation removal) and the degreasing and cleaning of all glazing and facia caps.
• Removal and replacement of large glazing units using rigging and lifting techniques. These lifts involved large vacuum units, rigging equipment and tram ways (horizontal lines) to manoeuvre the units safely into position.
• Application of sealant renewing all weather and capping seals followed by the pressure testing of the entire curtain wall.
