Arnish Point Re-cladding
Geckotech Solutions Ltd were contacted by our client who was tasked with the challenge of re-cladding and re-roofing the huge Arnish Point Fabrication Yard in Stornoway, Lewis. Our client required an innovative approach to provide access, dropped object and weather protection to his men and the inhabitants of the fabrication shop whilst this project was ongoing.
Due to the busy nature of the fabrication shop floor and the operation of the 3 large cranes inside traditional methods of access were not going to be suitable. The solution was to install 5000 SQM of tension netting systems to follow the profile of the existing roof. This system provided walk on capability to the third party roofers and dropped object protection to the work force below. The system was installed quickly causing little or no disruption to the building and provided safe unhindered access to all who used it.
Geckotech also installed weather and debris containment measures to the elevations of the structure in readiness for the re-cladding work. This vertical protection was installed quickly and capable of with standing the consistently strong winds and wet weather.
