The focus of this recent project was to undertake masonry repairs on Avon Bridge, Grangemouth as directed by the client. Industrial rope access techniques and the use of a cradle provided the primary means of access throughout these remedial works.
The scope of works included the implementation of traffic management allowing the full closure of the road running over the Avon Bridge; the installation of cradle and rope access systems of work allowing safe access to the elevations and arch soffits; the execution of masonry repairs working with tidal waters and vegetation removal.
As with any project over water, a safety boat was deployed for the duration. Our operatives used ropes and aid climbing techniques to access the structure; whilst a cradle system and turfer cables were used to aid our access to the soffits.
