There is an increasing demand for the installation of suspended access systems; particularly tension netting. The combination of rope access and tension netting is a highly effective means of providing access to under deck areas of structures such as bridges, pier, jetties and offshore platforms.
A recent project employing this access solution was on the Grand Pier at Weston super Mare where our team carried out remedial works to the existing structural steelwork. The works included the cleaning of an area of steelwork subject to rust staining using a mild acid cleaner; the cutting back of mastic, reinstating with Arbomeric MP20, and a thickness test of paint in the surrounding area.
The Pier is open to the public on a daily basis and attracts in the region of 4 million visitors a year. Due to our unobtrusive access solutions, there was no interference whatsoever to public access throughout the project.
